News and technology information Beijing time February 28, according to foreign media reports, in today's World Mobile Congress lunch special event, Facebook Chief Technology Officer Blette Thelles (Bret Taylor) introduced the company's mobile network in the latest efforts.
Facebook says it is working with a number of manufacturers to work together on better networking standards. These standards will support a variety of devices across the platform to ensure that users can experience consistent mobile network application services under different devices. Facebook called the program the core mobile Web Platform, a platform that supports and protects developers ' cross-platform support for ad hoc network standards.
As part of the plan, Facebook has also released a test suite Ringmark. The test suite will measure how much the mobile platform browser supports the new standard.
In addition, Facebook says it is working with large telecoms companies to streamline phone payments. Taylor points out that the plan will help developers more easily convert applications into profits, while driving innovation in the field of mobile networks. In the past, users need to confirm their consumption through the monthly billing or SMS messages of mobile operators, while Facebook hopes to quickly and easily confirm consumer information through the payment system on the website.
Before joining Facebook, Taylor was one of the joint developers of Google Maps and one of FriendFeed's co-founder. "Facebook and mobile phones are a natural pair," says Mr Taylor. "Taylor believes that mobile phones offer a variety of interesting specifications and features, but the real purpose of these functions is to connect people." So for Facebook, mobile phones are a natural platform. Taylor even said that if Facebook were to be established today, then CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg) would first develop social apps on the mobile platform.
Taylor points out that Facebook users are far above 425 million, and many of them are still using traditional smartphones. These users are important to Facebook, so the company launches the Opengraph application interface, allowing people from any platform to share their information. As of today, Facebook has 60 million users using mobile apps.
