Recently, Microsoft hinted that it could integrate online games into Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform. Video game enthusiasts who like to play online games with Xbox 360 consoles may soon be able to continue to play the game in motion. Windows Mobile users will be able to play to Xbox360 's games Microsoft has advertised for a program manager who can bring Xbox Live games to the Windows Mobile platform. Microsoft hopes the new employee will have an effective "Xbox Live" experience through online virtual role integration, social interaction and multiple display experience, according to the company's recruitment ad. Microsoft is expected to launch its new Windows Mobile operating system, the seventh incarnation of the operating system, in the fourth quarter of this year. The upgrade is important for Microsoft's future in the mobile phone industry, if Microsoft is to remain competitive with its rivals. Microsoft's rivals include Apple, Nokia and Google. Google's Android operating system is expected to gain more market share this year. However, Microsoft may also decide to launch its own Windows Mobile gaming device, competing with Sony's PSP and Nintendo's DS. The move by Microsoft recalls Nokia's attempts to penetrate the mobile gaming market with ngage gaming handsets. However, Nokia quickly freed itself from this proprietary gaming device and instead launched a platform that could be built on a variety of devices. The difference between Microsoft and Nokia is that Microsoft's Xbox consoles are already in need of enthusiasts, who pay to play online games such as "Halo". Given that Microsoft already has a stake in the game developer Bungie UBM, Microsoft has a good condition for creating mobile games. Perhaps the only surprise is that Microsoft has been taking so long to make use of the Xbox brand to bolster its mobile-market ambitions. Windows Mobile was initially considered an operating system for enterprise applications, with the focus on the same market as the BlackBerry. However, with the iphone's success prompting consumers to become increasingly interested in mobile gaming, Microsoft seems to have decided it might be time to make the Xbox game a mobile game.
