Smartphone apps are definitely the lead in people's lives, with more than 80% per cent of smartphone shipments and apps for users. The Cross-platform seamless experience between PCs, tablets, and smartphones has long been a concern for developers. For example, Evernote will develop software versions of almost all platforms to ensure that users can switch seamlessly when using each platform, and that the chrome desktop and mobile phones can also sync data, and I open several pages on my computer and still see those pages when I switch to my hand.

Although many people are aware of the importance of the app, but from the PC to the mobile phone app, there are still a lot of experience faults. There's a lot more to be done on the PC segment to the mobile end, like the following: When a lot of app content is shared on microblogs and micro-letters, how to seamlessly switch from a PC or a Web page link on a mobile phone to app.

In my nearly one months of testing, I found that most apps were not ready for the transition from Web links to apps. For example, I use a mobile phone in the micro-blog to open an application of the official account Weibo inside a link, the link content is the content of the app (microblogging share), and then you will find that most of the open when the page version. Although my mobile phone installed this application, but still open the Web page version, if the app needs to log in, I can not even do more in the web version of the operation.

Of course, there are also individual apps that are doing very well in the process of linking to app jumps. In general, this kind of jump optimization according to the design of the degree of seamless will have four, summarized as follows (in this statement, I tested all the apps are my personal favorite, so there is no defamation of which product issues):

The first: links are designed for PCs, not optimized for mobile devices, and you have to zoom to see what's on the page. There are many such apps, such as public comments, shells, fruit banks, and so on.

The second: links are optimized for mobile devices, but there are still faults from the end of the page to the moving end. For example, the American music time official micro-letter will recommend some songs, I opened the browser can be played directly, the mobile experience is great, but even after the login can not be a collection of songs to play. If I want to collect some songs, must use the computer to open the website, search the song, and then the collection will be synchronized to the Le Time app, very troublesome. In addition this kind of app also has: Want to go, the American Regiment and so on.

There is also a situation, is the media class application. Because the media itself produces content is only an article, so it is easy to optimize for mobile devices. But this is divided into two categories, a class of its own web page on the mobile device experience is very good, but also have clients, but both have faults. The second category is the optimization of the mobile end, but because there is no client, it does not appear on the problem of experience faults.

The third: the product itself is for mobile, even if the page version, also as simple as moving end. This kind of link opens without any pressure, even if login, it is very convenient. You can do all sorts of things directly with the Web page, and then open the app to sync. This is very good, but it still does not solve the gap between Web links and apps, I can not directly open the app through the web link. Such products are relatively few, such as the early fruit pool (no web version), foreign fancy and so on.

Fourth: Click on the link to open the app directly, if it is on the desktop side directly in the browser display content. Of the more than 10 apps I tested, I found only two of them doing very well on web links to app jumps, that is, snap (Papa) and Instagram. I saw a friend in the brush to share a snap, click on the link, my PA will automatically open, and then show the content of friends to share. The Instagram approach is somewhat different, it first opened the optimized page, and then the logo next to the "Open in App" button, click to open the app directly. This is very convenient, if I do not install the app, then it will open directly in the mobile browser, if I use a computer, it will also open directly in the desktop browser.

For web links to the app jump problem, many people may say that this is only a small detail, there is no need to delve too much. But as we use our mobile apps more and more, this little problem will haunt more and more people. And as you can see from the fourth solution, many apps aren't doing this because of Apple's sandbox protection, but developers aren't really taking this part into account when considering the user experience.
