The IDC tracking report says global disk storage System vendor revenues reached about $8.8 billion trillion in the third quarter of 2014, up 5.1% per cent year-on-year. Capacity shipments were 25 bytes, and capacity shipments rose 42% from a year earlier.
Eric Sheppard, director of IDC Storage research, said: "The third-quarter storage market highlights a lot, high-capacity server storage drives internal storage revenue growth of 10%, while less than 100,000 U.S. dollars of external storage array revenue growth of 6%." But the biggest market impact comes from the storage systems that Original equipment manufacturers (ODM) sell directly to large data centers. Revenue from this partially completed or partially built storage system increased by 22% in the quarter, accounting for 43% of total consumer capacity. ”
Overall disk storage System results for the third quarter of 2014

ODM Direct Storage System Introduction
The transformation of the original design manufacturer (ODM) has made it possible to design, procure, and/or deploy new storage architectures for Web services and large data center cloud services providers, while the traditional it original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are less involved. This trend has been expanding over the past five years, and many cloud services providers now offer a range of workloads that are compatible with internally deployed servers, including web, mobile, large data/analytics, and social-collaborative competition. The impact of this growing market impact on the overall storage market, which is why IDC started tracking the ODM direct system.
