At the moment, PCs are still the core tool in our day-to-day life-we use PCs to process documents, store data, and share information with others via email or u disk. If the PC hard drive is broken, we will be stranded because of data loss. In the "Cloud computing" era, the cloud will do the work of storing and computing for us. "Cloud" is the computer group, each group includes hundreds of thousands of units, and even millions of computers. The benefit of the cloud is that the computer can be updated at any time to ensure that the cloud is immortal. Google has several such "clouds", and other IT giants, such as Microsoft, Yahoo and Amazon, have or are building such "clouds". At that time, we only need a computer to be able to access the Internet, do not need to care about the storage or calculation of which "cloud", but once necessary, we can use any equipment, such as computers, mobile phones, to quickly calculate and find this information. We don't have to worry about losing data any more.

At a news conference on March 17, Schmidt made a figurative analogy. "Cloud computing," he said, "is like a bank ATM, and we don't have to carry a lot of cash out of the house, and we can get it anytime we want." Kusheme, Google's engineer, argues that the PC era is like everyone needs to use electricity to buy their own generators, while in the "cloud computing" era, everyone does not have to have generators to buy electricity directly from large power plants. "Cloud computing" is not really a new concept. According to Kusheme, "cloud computing" before, there are "grid computing" (grid Computing) and so on, the idea is about how the computer together to play a role. More than 10 years ago, when she was a graduate student, she knew the concepts, but the problem was that these concepts had never been well realized.

After Kusheme joined Google, she found that this kind of concept had been practiced. Google's technology allows hundreds of thousands of of computers to work together to form powerful data centers. Google China CEO Lee Kai-Fu, said in an interview with Caijing reporter that Google's real competitiveness lies in these "clouds", they let Google have the unmatched ability to store and compute global data. At the beginning of its creation, Google did not deliberately pursue concepts such as "cloud computing" and "Lattice computing". But as a search engine, Google needs these "clouds" objectively. In fact, Yahoo's search also uses "cloud computing". Cloud computing is a new way of sharing infrastructure that can connect huge system pools together to provide a wide range of IT services. Many factors drive the need for such environments, including connectivity devices, real-time data streams, adoption of SOA, and rapid growth in WEB 2.0 applications such as search, open collaboration, social networking, and mobile commerce. In addition, the improvement of the performance of digital components has greatly increased the size of the IT environment, thus further strengthening the need for a unified cloud management.

Cloud computing +always-on equipment was named "The ten most influential it technology portfolio in 25 years"

Following the introduction of cloud computing strategies by well-known IT companies such as Amazon and Google, Microsoft has also joined the camp to launch the Windows Azure Cloud computing service. At present, the major companies in the "cloud computing" business in the field of competition is increasing.

Giant layout "cloud computing"

Microsoft has shown that the company will continue to dominate the next 10 years of evidence. Microsoft publishes products and strategies that are more integrated into "cloud computing", including the Azure series "cloud computing" services, network delivery, lightweight Office applications and the latest live mesh intermediary software. Google may have won the search war, but Microsoft will never cede the global "cloud" sovereignty.

Now Microsoft understands that its platform must be extended to every device and off-line solution. Microsoft missed the web search revolution, but the bigger revolution: The next 20 years of "cloud computing" migration, Microsoft will never be absent.

Although Microsoft's "cloud computing" strategy has been slow to start compared with competitors, Azure is still in the pre-beta phase, and it is uncertain to be able to attract a sufficient number of consumers and businesses in the future to support Microsoft's business model and existing market share. But there is no turning back, and Microsoft is finally setting the position of office in "cloud computing".

Now, "cloud computing" is the new trend of computing market, Amazon, Google, IBM, Sun and other IT giants have launched related services. Google is building a similar ecosystem from scratch, and is keen to attract millions of of developers to join. Amazon is pushing its flexible computing "cloud" program, Rackspace, EMC, IBM and many others want to get a piece. Most of these companies are focused on escrow services, but the biggest piece will be platform-services, where developers can create and execute their applications for the "cloud computing" operating system.

"The cloud model provides a more economical way for businesses to get it and use it, especially in a recession," said IDC's chief analyst and senior vice president. IDC predicts that by 2012, "cloud computing" spending will grow by 25%, and 2013 growth will be nearly 1/3. By 2012, users will spend 10% of their total IT spending on cloud products, including SaaS and cloud storage.

Define the hidden dangers of the difficulty of integration

For the naming of "cloud computing", it giants each have their own "definitions". Google said that "cloud computing is the Internet"; Microsoft has put forward the concept of "cloud-end computing", that is, "cloud" and the terminal will have a strong computational power, it emphasizes the importance of client software; Intel emphasizes that the importance of the terminal is enhanced in the "cloud computing" era; IBM says " Cloud computing is a shared virtual pool, a brand new enterprise data center. The "cloud computing" in the Giants ' mouths is inconsistent, but invariably, their views are based on their own advantages.

On the whole, Microsoft Windows Azure gives the impression that it is more complicated than the "Google App" service that Google offers to please everyone. Compatibility with the. NET framework may be convenient for a particular user, but it can also create a complex, hard to use impression on the user. Microsoft may argue that this is needed to make the difference between existing services, but it may not be very appealing to those who take advantage of the current "cloud computing" service.

Google also faces the risks posed by cloud computing. Recently, Google app has been down for several hours. Google says the problem comes from a performance overflow caused by a database server bug.

Now, including GE and Procter and Gamble, there are already 50多万家 organizations registered Google Apps, the total number of users throughout the Google Apps reached about 10 million. It is noteworthy that the vast majority of these users are individual consumers, college students and employees in small businesses, not corporate organizations. Rajen Sheth, Google's senior product manager, also admits that Google Apps's goal is not to replace Office apps like office.

"Cloud computing" technology is not entirely without worries. Joe Weinman, vice president of Global Business Services strategy at&t, points out that there is no common standard between cloud and cloud, meaning that it is difficult for business users to switch from one service provider to another, reducing the flexibility of service transfer. In addition, despite the high degree of stability of large manufacturers, however, whether Amazon or Salesforce.com, there have been downtime events, causing business users operating risk, how to let enterprise users safely put the internal data into the cloud, the extension of security concerns, is the "cloud" can take off another key reason.

The challenge behind 42 billion dollars

The prototype of "cloud computing" in the IT market is evolving, offering new opportunities for suppliers and a shift in traditional IT products. IDC consultancy forecasts that spending on it cloud services could grow 3 times times over the next 5 years, to $42 billion trillion by 2012, and Occupy 9% of the five key market units. More importantly, spending on "cloud computing" will enter a phase of accelerated growth that will achieve a 25% per cent increase in total IT spending by 2012.

Frank Kim, senior vice president and chief analyst at IDC Consulting, said, "IDC recently conducted a market survey of IT management, CIOs and key business executives, which shows that cloud services are entering people's horizons and are beginning to be universally recognized and accepted." In addition, IDC predicts that the current financial crisis has contributed to the trend towards accepting ' cloud computing '. The cloud model provides a more cost-effective way for businesses to purchase and use it, and the cost advantage is undoubtedly the most attractive in a downturn. This advantage is particularly important for small and medium enterprises.

The trend towards "cloud computing" has been driven by three of market forces: the search business has developed rapidly in some important new areas, including Brazil, Russia, India and China, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, and traditional methods lack solutions to meet these development needs in these increasingly important markets; The competitive pressures of emerging firms profiting from these new models.

IDC Consulting Company believes that for it vendors, there are two major opportunities for the development of cloud services. One of the opportunities for it vendors is to consider delivering their IT products or services to consumers through cloud mode. This means they have to consider whether they can get into the software that is the service business, the storage cloud business, the server cloud business, and so on. The second opportunity for it vendors is to consider how current and future products will support the development of the user, providing others with the tools to enter the cloud services business.

To be successful, cloud service providers must deliver hybrid products and services that combine traditional and cloud. According to IDC's market research results, the cloud service provider two of the most important thing is to provide competitive price and performance assurance.
