"Sohu It News" Beijing time September 3 News, HTC may feel abandoned, because Microsoft has just announced the acquisition of Nokia's mobile phone business. Market analysts said HTC had been Microsoft's closest partner until the company's partnership with Nokia grew warmer. HTC's partnership with Microsoft dates back to 2002, when HTC launched its first smartphone with Microsoft Windows Mobile, digits, the Wall Street Journal's technology blog, reported. Since then, HTC has launched more mobile phones to support Windows Mobile systems, with rival Nokia. Nokia has only been changing its strategy for 2011 years to create a Windows Phone smartphone. "HTC was definitely the best Windows Phone handset maker since last autumn, because they worked with Microsoft for years," said Jianzongxun, an analyst at Yuan Bao Securities. But over the past year, Nokia has become the dominant maker of Windows Phone phones. "In the third quarter, HTC was likely to have its first quarterly operating loss since its inception, and the company has started looking for new ways to boost its performance." Analysts say Windows phone phones make up only a small part of HTC's revenue, but it is a heavy stick for the already troubled HTC to buy Nokia handsets. HTC's current woes include shrinking market share, leaving executives, and the recent release of some of the company's top product designers for suspected disclosure of company secrets. Geichin, an analyst at Barclays Capital Securities, says most smartphones sold by HTC are powered by Google's Android operating system, with Windows phone smartphones accounting for only 10% of HTC's total shipments. HTC spokeswoman declined to comment on Microsoft's acquisition of the Nokia handset business, saying only that the company is assessing the situation. (Kuke)
