According to the evening News last year, Shanghai IC chip design sales exceeded the chip manufacturing industry for the first time. This is the news from last week's China International Semiconductor Expo news conference, the exhibition will be held in Shanghai this October.

Shiji, Deputy secretary general of Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Association, said in a press conference last year the total sales of the IC industry in Shanghai were 63.05 billion yuan, an increase of 17.9% per cent. The chip manufacturing sales were the first to be surpassed by the chip design industry, which saw a 4.2% negative growth last year, while the chip design industry gained 31.9% sales. According to the data released by the China Semiconductor Association, Shanghai Enterprises have occupied four seats in the top ten chip design companies in the country.
