Subversion of traditional cloud computing classification into the 2.0 era of cloud computing

"It's cloud, it's not cloud," "You're not into the cloud." These statements are boring, and I don't think this is the core issue that Gartner's Magic Quadrant should be talking about. As long as the world merges, everything is cloud, even including my bike.

At present, we usually use only one dimension to define the cloud service type, so we can only divide into Iaas,paas and SaaS three kinds, but in fact, this classification pattern is far from enough. I recently found that some people are trying to divide the cloud into a second dimension, creating the concept of "corporate cloud" and "Next Generation Cloud".

After two years of communication and discussion, I have come to the conclusion that there is indeed a second dimension. But that doesn't mean we have to give up the first dimension of the cloud, we can still continue to do it.

The change that two-dimensional cloud model brings to enterprise

I keep a fair set of principles to illustrate the three cloud patterns of the second dimension: orchestrated clouds (combined cloud architecture), policy-based Clouds (policy-based cloud architecture) for Fail clouds (Refactoring cloud architecture). Below I will list three tables to explain these three different angles, different types of cloud patterns. Perhaps the characteristics of the three cloud models I have listed will have some similarities, but we have to look at them from the big picture.

This reminds me of a phrase in my previous article: "We are designing infrastructure to support cloud computing platforms and applications, and designing new service contracts and developing new applications." You might think that three options from left to right are tied, and how you choose depends on how fast your business develops. However, if you have participated in the discussion on Weibo, you will find that your idea is wrong.

If you invest in two cloud models, you suddenly find that you need to wait twenty or thirty years to make a profit, and then think you've done something wrong and want to invest in the third cloud model. But do not worry, each enterprise development is different, the need for the cloud model is not the same, so maybe you did not do wrong.

There are a lot of people may misunderstand the above picture, feel that their location is not correct, I would like to give you a clear explanation: the image of each manufacturer, the product location is not fixed, it can move up and down over time. I've found that in the third column, there are a lot of things that represent online services, not software products, which is an interesting thing and a trend. At the same time, through the image discovery, cloud migration legacy workload is selected in the IaaS service to complete, new tasks can be placed in the PAAs layer and the SaaS layer.
