The systems I built in my career have replaced a number of meaningless jobs. To be frank, I left with satisfaction at the end of my work, except for a few tough times and realizing that I was helping others to do a better job. 6: Selling

7: Skills

Those who want to do it are usually quite intelligent and have unique qualities and skills. It attracts analytical people and makes the world a technical tilt. If you have these qualities and skills, you can find a home in it.

Another good reason to stay in it is to keep your skills up-to-date. Your skills will be outdated or even eliminated if you leave it too long. Before you leave it, think about it, it's your boss who pays you to learn new skills and keep your skills up to the situation. Those skills are an investment in your future.

8: Respect

Jack mentioned in his article that IT pros are not respected by the public. I know from the feedback in the forum that many of you agree with this and feel that you have not gained the prestige and the respect you desire. If you do a good job and you feel a lack of respect, perhaps the reason is to blame the bystander ignorance, not your own fault.

The public may be tough, but you can get respect from your co-workers. The knowledgeable and intelligent professionals value the contributions of others and show their respect for their colleagues. It is a good place to earn respect. If you are not able to earn respect in the field of it, chances are that you won't get it anywhere else.

Maybe I was lucky or naïve, but I always thought I had earned the respect of my manager, my assistants and my clients. Perhaps most importantly, respect is an attitude, your attitude, and your perception of how others perceive you.

9: Geek

It is the perfect place to meet your desire for extreme technology. What other places can meet your geek needs and pay you for it? If you enjoy the way you think by Byte, GHz, charts, milestones, and if THEN else statements, you will like to work with others who share your common interests and the same unique language.

10: Love

Many people who choose to do it love the cause. Come on, admit it. Deep down you love your job. For those who are not, that is relative. You will love it when considering other jobs and salaries for the masses. If you can't find a trace of love from yourself and your IT work, maybe it's time to go your separate ways.

Summary
