Beijing time August 25 Morning News, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in Friday, more than 1000 U.S. companies are being subjected to a round of information security attacks. The attack was aimed at the store cashier system. The Department of Homeland Security has urged all companies to check for possible malware infections. UPS said earlier last week that the company's system was infected with Pos malware called Backoff, which could lead to the disclosure of some 105,000 user trading data from 51 UPS stores from January to August last year. In these data-disclosure incidents, malware usually attacks the POS system, stealing data when the user uses a bank card to pay by card. In Friday, the Department of Homeland Security said the intelligence services had responded to a number of corporate networks infected with Backoff malware over the past year. In addition, many of the victimized companies may not be aware that their networks are infected. On the other hand, 7 POS system providers also confirmed that many customers were affected by malware. In these cases, the DHS said, information security attackers remotely accessed the store system and deleted user payment data. Over the past year, several retailers and other companies have suffered data leaks, including Target (61.05,-0.02,-0.03%), Neiman Marcus Group, chain store Supervalu Inc. and chain restaurant P.F. Chang ' s Bistro Inc. Tens of millions of of credit and debit card information leaked during the attack on target during Christmas last year. Data leaks have put pressure on U.S. retailers and banks to shift from old-fashioned magnetic stripe cards to a new generation of chip cards. Currently, chip cards have been widely used in Europe and other parts of the world. (Chu Yue)
