In the past 12 months, British consumers have bought 51 million trips through contactless payment technology, up to 338 million pounds in cumulative consumption, according to the Telegraph website. In June this year, this kind of contactless payment activity was particularly active, with a monthly payment of four times times higher than the same period last year, amounting to £ 45.2 million.

Visa, a global payment technology company, owes this growth in part to an ad by Usain Bolt, a famous Jamaican athlete. This is the same as Visa's contactless and mobile payments during the 2012 London Olympics.

"A year ago, we embarked on a ' contactless payment ' (contactless 2012) program designed to raise awareness of contactless payment technologies and to appreciate the convenience and flexibility that it brings to day-to-day payment activities." ”

"We are delighted to see that the technology is now widely used," said Mark Austin, head of Visa's European contactless payments division. Consumers are also confident in daily contactless payment activities. We are delighted that many new shops will be using this payment technology in the second half of 2013. ”

In the UK, there are currently over 28 million visa contactless smart cards in circulation. The user can only use their smart card to contact the payment terminal, without having to enter a PIN or password, to pay the amount below 20 dollars. Europe claims that consumer spending averaged 6.65 pounds in the past 12 months.

In the UK, many banks are issuing contactless smart cards, including Barclays, Barclays, Capital One, Duncan-Raleigh, HSBC, Danone, Lloyds Banking Group, MBNA, NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland. In addition, some network operators and handset manufacturers are also promoting mobile non-contact payment technology.

Visa contactless payment technology is recognised by many retail outlets, including M&s, McDonald's, Pret A Pret, Boots, Co-Op, WHSmith, Starbucks and Costcutter. Visa's contactless payment technology has been used in more than 3 million trips on London buses since December 2012, when the London Transportation Department introduced a contactless payment system, the company said.

London's Transport Department says the number of cash payments has fallen below 1% since the launch of Oyster cards and contactless payment cards. Reduced cash payments can help the government save 24 million of pounds a year.
