United Fermi and Bulldozer Cray launch new generation supercomputer XK6

In the recently held 2011 CUG (Cray User Group) conference, world-renowned manufacturers Cray launched a new generation named XK6 http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13840.html " > Supercomputer. The supercomputer uses the Opteron 6200 series processor of the AMD Bulldozer architecture and the Tesla series of the Nvidia Fermi architecture, which can perform up to 50PFlops of floating-point operations, or 500 million times per second. Cray XK6 Supercomputer

According to Cray, the XK6 supercomputer consists of multiple computer cabinets, each containing 96 compute servers, each configured with an AMD Opteron 6200 16 core processor and an NVIDIA Tesla X2090 compute card. It also matches the eight-channel 16 or 32GB ECC DDR3 RAM and 6GB GDDR5 memory. As a result, each cabinet will have 1536 core processors and 49,152 cuda cores, with a maximum operation speed of up to 70TFlops.

Cray XK6 Compute Server and multipurpose I/O server

In addition, there are 4 multi-purpose I/O servers in each cabinet, each with 1 six-core AMD Opteron 2000 processors and 16GB of memory, providing up to 32gb/s I/O bandwidth and support for a variety of interconnect interfaces.

It is said that Cray XK6 supercomputer will be formally put into commercial business in the second half of this year.
