This article has been tested by ourselves. The system is Ubuntu 14.04 server, and the Mysql database is Mysql 5.5. We are preparing to migrate it to Maria DB 10.1, for details about the migration methods of other versions, go to the official website. Here I will only talk about what I have tested.
As to why oracle migrated to MariaDB, users who know Oralce's acquisition of Sun should know that, of course, this has been a thing a few years ago. I have never liked oracle's attitude on MySQL, mariaDB is basically used for database installation. The entire migration process is basically painless and requires no special settings. The compatibility is very good.
First, select a proper source from the MariaDB official website, and put the address to the bottom of the/etc/apt/sources. list file:
# MariaDB 10.1 repository list-created UTC
# Http://mariadb.org/mariadb/repositories/
Deb http://mirrors.neusoft.edu.cn/mariadb/repo/10.1/ubuntu trusty main
The deb-src http://mirrors.neusoft.edu.cn/mariadb/repo/10.1/ubuntu trusty main
Save and enter the following commands:
Sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
Sudo apt-key adv -- recv-keys -- keyserver hkp: // keyserver.ubuntu.com: 80 0xcbcb082a1bb943db
Sudo apt-get update
Sudo apt-get install mariadb-server
The installation command will automatically uninstall the Mysql database! During the installation process, you are required to reset the password and follow the prompts to perform the operation. phpmyadmin is also supported by default!
