The survey is aimed primarily at the European and American counterparts, but we can still see the various situations of practitioners in the web design industry. You can see how they look at their jobs in the 2012, where the industry is headed and how they do business. Reading this article, you will have a general understanding of the industry in 2012. 5 years of well-developed UI front-end framework!

Most of the meaning of the article is included in this picture.

About this industry

"This industry is still an independent and highly-conscious industry."

The survey showed that 62% of the people were freelancers (the data was less reliable in the country) or were their own bosses. This figure increased by 9.2% compared to 2011. Less than One-fourth of the people are full-time workers in one company and the rest (14.8%) earn a living through agency work. This shows that the web design industry is still a relatively high independence of the industry, most people tend to build a small market for themselves.

Price & Competition

The payment method, which combines hourly and full pay, is the fee that most web designers use. , 27% said they wanted to pay for their customers, and only 12% of them were billed by the hour alone.

Working for yourself means attracting new customers and picking up new orders is crucial, and the findings also show the designers ' concerns. 4/5 agreed that in the past 12 months, finding new jobs was as difficult and even tougher as ever. More than 3/4 of the people predicted that the 2013 situation will not be good to go.

This pessimistic view goes beyond that, with 79% of people thinking that personal incomes will fall as a result of intense market competition. The number of people who had this view in 2011 accounted for 61%, which was seen to have increased by 18% in 2012.

Industry challenges

The survey data also showed another bad news (the Chinese designers may have a strong feeling): 88% of designers say their customers are always underestimating the value of Web design. 80% of small companies believe that a new website is worth less than $1592, and that there is a huge divergence of views on the value of web design in the eyes of professionals and customers.

The point here is that for Americans, $1592 is actually equivalent to 1592 yuan, or more than a few. Do not understand why people always convert the dollar into renminbi, is the old United States to go to China to spend? That said, in Europe and the United States, the average level of the industry is indeed not high. 5 years of well-developed UI front-end framework!

Given the current media coverage of the global economic downturn, this data is not surprising.

The data also shows that Web designers typically offer 3.1 additional services, which in 2011 were the top three of services that 2.31.web designers wanted to sell: Site maintenance (19.83%), Web Development (19.14%), and search engine optimization (13.18%).

But one thing, it seems, is that web designers still have faith in their industry. 77% of people think their jobs are generally secure. This is indeed an interesting contrast to the pessimistic sentiment and data that we have just talked about. It's not hard to pick up the price and it's not hitting us, suggesting that despite the intense competition, the industry is still healthy and there is no bad competition. Fierce competition has led to the use of more innovation and new trends to attract customers.

The continued growth of mobile internet

Because of the popularity of tablets and only mobile phones, 9/10 of people say customers have increased their demand for mobile devices. But less than One-third said they had always taken the mobile terminal factor into account in the design of the website, which showed that the acceptance of the new medium was not high. (It seems that foreigners are not very well)

End

Our survey highlights some of the main concerns of web designers, especially in the context of intense market competition. Although the outlook is slightly pessimistic, we can still see some positive things from this year's survey. 5 years of well-developed UI front-end framework!

Designers still prefer to go it alone, despite the economic downturn, the industry is still very independent consciousness. More people are contributing to the continued development of the industry by providing additional services and innovative products.
