Dear readers, we have met again. About a month ago, Ubuntu13.04RaringRingtail was officially released, and unlike other previous versions, its debut seemed a bit silent. Mainstream technical blogs and news websites did not mention this upgrade, probably because Ubutnu13.04 is regarded as a timely release of the progressive version. But from the user's point of view, "RaringRingtail" has brought a lot of very important improvements, and significant performance improvements are one of them. Now let's leave it alone.
Dear readers, we have met again. About a month ago, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail was officially released, and unlike other previous versions, this time it appeared to be a bit silent. Mainstream technical blogs and news websites did not mention this upgrade, probably because more Ubutnu 13.04 versions are regarded as a timely release. However, from the user's point of view, "Raring Ringtail" has brought a lot of important improvements, among which significant performance improvement is one. Now let's leave aside other things. Let's focus on how to adjust Ubuntu 13.04 to make it more suitable for daily use. After Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail is installed, we still need to make 30 adjustments.
After installing Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, I made a series of work.
Do you want to know what new content will Ubutnu bring to the latest version? I think the most widely discussed topic is that the performance of new systems is not satisfactory compared with the previous generation version (12.10 'quanttal quetzal. It not only has obvious latency, but also has serious stability problems. Raring Ringtail is not suitable for the butter program. However, in any case, there is no doubt that Ubuntu 13.04 has brought a lot of improvements.
Performance advantages (at least for me) are the most important features of Linux. However, we can use a series of measures to further improve the global performance of Ubuntu. We also need to make some adjustments. These basic operations are of great significance for daily use. The following is the story of our book. I hope to include all the details as much as possible in this article to ensure that system adjustments can be made even for beginners. These thirty adjustments will bring a significant new round of improvement to Ubutnu 13.04 Raring Ringtail after system installation.
Top priority: Install the Ubuntu restricted attachment tool during installation
Starting with Ubuntu 11.04, we can install a restricted decoding package (including Adobe Flash and MP3 decoder) during the installation of the Ubuntu operating system ).
Note the positions pointed by the arrows in the preceding dialog box. If you select both of them during the Ubuntu installation process (ensure that the device has been correctly connected to the internet before this option is checked), the restricted additional package will be automatically installed, after the system is installed, we can play media files in MP3, MP4, and other formats at any time and watch flash videos (such as YouTube videos ).
However, this process may also cause problems. If your current Internet connection response is slow (of course this situation is rare), it may take a long time to check the above interface. I personally prefer to install additional components after Ubuntu is installed. If you are the same as me, pay attention to the following two items.
Update Database
After completing the all-new installation process of Ubuntu 13.04, you must first update the database to ensure that you have installed all the latest updates.
Search for the software update tool in Unity Dash and enable the application. It automatically checks all available updates and completes the installation.
You can also use the command line to achieve this. Open the terminal (in Ubuntu 13.04, the corresponding shortcut is Ctrl + Alt + T), and paste the following content into the terminal interface.
- Sudo apt-get update & sudo apt-get upgrade
Enter the password in the system prompt. Our new Ubuntu 13.04 has been successfully updated and upgraded.
Install limited additional Ubuntu Components
Install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package. This will enable Ubuntu to play popular file formats such as mp3, avi, and flash videos. Click Here (install directly from the Ubuntu Software Center) or paste the following command line content into the terminal interface to install the software package (if we have checked the software package during the previous system installation process, this part can be ignored ).
- Sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
Complete.
