Prerequisites for enabling 3D effects in Fedora8:
Driver graphics: Run in text mode (init 1): NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.19-pkg1.run

Modify the xorg. conf file (/etc/X11/xorg. conf) and add Load "extmod" to Section "Module ".

You can use yum-y install XXXX for installation, or you can write them into a shell script for batch processing, which saves the trouble:
