When I started using Linux, I used Ubuntu as the first release. In May this year, I removed Microsoft's Windows XP and Ubuntu became my only system. time may not be too long, but I really fell in love with Linux. during this period, I tried a lot of Linux software. After N + 1 reinstallation of the system, the system has finally stabilized. now I will sort out the current software. one for some people to refer to, and the other is to make a record to record my Ubunt
When I started using Linux, I used Ubuntu as the first release. By May this year, I had removed Microsoft's WINDOWS XP and Ubuntu had been used as my only system. time may not be too long, but I really fell in love with Linux. during this period, I tried a lot of Linux software. After N + 1 reinstallation of the system, the system has finally stabilized.
Now I will sort out the software I use for some people's reference. I will also make a record to record my Ubuntu life!
1. the first is the release of Linux. I currently use Ubuntu 7. 04. I have never used other Linux distributions, because I think Ubuntu is a rare Linux release. at least it is a release suitable for desktop applications. it also has a complete Chinese social support, which is recommended for beginners!
2. window Manager. so far, I have used GNOME for the longest desktop environment. although KDE has been used in some cases, K environment has more good software support, but I think G environment is more concise and better suited to my habits, maybe I will try to adapt to KDE when Kde4.0 comes out, but now GNOME is my first choice!
3. office kit. I am still a student, so there are not many students using this. however, I use OpenOffice.org. including word processing, e-table, demo, and other components, and it is open-source.
4. graphic processing. It is not a good plotting skill, but I often use GIMP to change some images.
5. network browsing. firefox is a browser that I have been using. For me, FF is not just as simple as a browser. it is a great terminal in my computer, and I like its unparalleled scalability. opera is actually good, but it is troublesome to configure the font. however, I often use it to browse mobile websites, that is, WAP websites. maybe it is the only browser in Linux with this function! There is also IE6, and I keep it in my computer because I need online banking.
6. media and Entertainment. when I first listened to songs, I used XMMS, a classic and old player. but then I liked Audacious, which is small and easy to use. I have been using it all the time. as for watching movies, it is of course MPlayer. Install the decoder. it is omnipotent. however, it is based on the QT front-end-SMPlayer which is currently the most commonly used. I have no choice but to watch Internet TV!
7. Input Method. Little Penguin Fcitx is the one I have been using. I feel that it is much better than the built-in Scim. However, recently, I am so angry that I will not develop any more. Sorry!
8. Games. I usually play less games now, so I unload those games that come with the system. However, I occasionally play SuperTux and SuperTuxKart for a while.
