The error returned when the tar.gz command is used to decompress the .tar.gz file-Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information. For details, refer to the following section. In some linux versions, when tar-zxvf * .tar.gz command is used to decompress .tar.gz, the "tar: z: unknown function modifier" error occurs.

When tar-x * .tar.gz is used, the "tar:/dev/rmt/0: No such file or directory" error occurs.

This is because tar in linux does not support the z parameter. In this case, the decompression process can be divided into two steps:

Gzip-d yourfile.tar.gz. Generate a .tar file.

Tar-xvf yourfile.tar. Decompress the file.
