Apple Insider reported that, according to Apple's announcement to the SEC, CEO Tim Cook's total salary in the previous fiscal year was $9.22 million, doubling from a year earlier. Meanwhile, Apple's head of retail business, Angela Ahrendts, has made Mr Cook's pay a dwarf, as the former has reached an astonishing $73.4 million in compensation.
Angela Ahrendts joined Apple last year before she was the CEO of Burberry, the luxury brand. In the end of the 2014 fiscal year, Apple's performance on the big-screen IPhone has soared, with net profits of $39.5 billion, up from $37 billion in the previous fiscal year. The market capitalisation was also first over $700 billion.
Earlier this month, Swiss banks issued an IPhone sales statistics report . Over the past quarter, Apple has sold 69.3 million iphones, with sales in China and the United States accounting for 35% and 24% of total sales. Sales in China have risen significantly, becoming the world's largest consumer of iphones.
At present, Apple's strategy in China is more radical, Ahrendts to accompany Cook to China last October. Apple is set to open 15 Apple stores this year in second-tier cities in China . In January of this year, two Apple stores in Zhengzhou and Hangzhou were opened consecutively. In Burberry, Ahrendts was very bullish on the Chinese market, thinking that Chinese consumption was at the Japanese stage more than 20 years ago and was desperately craving for big names overseas.
Ahrendts revealed last year that Apple's first smart watch, Apple Watch, was first launched in March. Angela Ahrendts's experience in the luxury industry helped to sell the high-end version of this smart watch. Before and after she joined Apple, Apple's management introduced a number of top executives in the fashion industry. Among them are senior designer Ben Shaffer, vice president of sales, LVMH's watch division, Patrick Pruniaux, and Yves Saint Laurent's former CEO Paul Deneve.
Ahrendts has won the Apple Store Clerk's favorite since taking office, some call her "very apple". She herself has also expressed a great appreciation for Steve Jobs, and the success of Burberry as CEO is inspired by the style of Apple's founders. After more than half a year of work at Apple, Ahrendts's comments, whether from the Apple Store clerk or Cook's mouth, are far better than her predecessor, John Browett.
Angela Ahrendts, head of Apple's retail business, is 8 times times the salary of Cook.
