UEFI is the "Unified Extensible Firmware Interface" that replaces the traditional BIOS. MBR is the traditional partition table type, the biggest disadvantage is not to support the capacity of more than 2T hard disk. GPT makes up the disadvantage of MBR, which supports up to 18EB hard disks and is a UEFI-based disk partitioning scheme.
MBR is currently supported on all Windows systems, and GPT is supported only by 64-bit systems. The BIOS only supports MBR boot systems, while GPT is available only with the UEFI boot system. Because of this, the motherboard now mostly uses the BIOS integrated UEFI, or UEFI integrated bios, in order to be compatible with both MBR and GPT boot system purposes.
UEFI starts booting the system by locating the boot file within the first FAT partition in the hard disk partition for system boot, and there is no partition table format specified. So the U disk and the mobile hard disk can be used MBR partition table, create a FAT partition to place the boot file, so as to achieve dual-mode boot. However, it is important to note that although UEFI supports MBR boot, UEFI boot files must be stored under the FAT partition, and UEFI cannot use traditional MBR boot to boot the system.
Because the GPT boot system differs from the MBR, the use of traditional system installation methods (such as Ghost, Win$man, etc.) can cause the system to fail to boot. And with GPT booting the system, you have to adjust the motherboard settings when necessary to turn on UEFI (most motherboards turn on UEFI by default). Using UEFI and GPT, however, only supports hard drives larger than 2T, and does not result in a qualitative boost (boot hardware self-test will be slightly faster then 1, 2 seconds). Therefore, if you do not have a hard drive larger than 2T, you do not need to use UEFI.
   BIOS+MBR:This is the most traditional, the system will support; The only drawback is that hard disks larger than 2T are not supported.
   bios+gpt:The BIOS can use the GPT partition table hard disk as the data disk, but can not boot the system, if the computer with a capacity of less than 2T hard disk and capacity greater than 2T of hard disk, less than 2T can be used MBR partition table installation system, and more than 2T can use GPT partition table to store data. However, the system must use a 64-bit system.
   UEFI+MBR:Uefi can be set to Legacy mode (traditional mode) to support the traditional MBR boot, the effect is the same as BIOS+MBR, you can also set up FAT partition, place uefi boot file, can be applied on USB drive and mobile hard drive to achieve dual-mode boot.
   uefi+gpt:This is necessary if you want to install a system with a hard disk larger than 2T as a system disk. And the system must use a 64-bit system, otherwise it will not boot. But the system is not the traditional after the installation of PE can be used directly, the guidance has to be processed before the line.
