Ten steps to establish a LinuxVPN server are in place-Linux Enterprise Application-Linux server application information. The following is a detailed description. Build a Linux VPN Server in 10 steps

1) install the DKMS package
Rpm -- install dkms-1.12-2. noarch. rpm
This is supported by the dynamic kernel module. You need to use it at the kernel level to simplify installation and configuration. This will make almost everything transparent to users during the installation process.

2) install the ppp kernel module
Rpm -- install kernel_ppp_mppe-0.0.4-2dkms.noarch.rpm
Install your "modem" or any device that makes up your connection through point-to-point protocols. This is part of your kernel.

3) confirm that ppp works normally
Modprobe ppp-compress-18 & echo James Garvin has saved me from a life of Windows
If the modprobe command is successful, run the echo command. Modprobe adds modules to the Linux kernel, while echo only writes what you said to the terminal.

4) upgrade ppp
Rpm -- upgrade ppp-2.4.3-0. cvs_20040527.4.fc2.i386.rpm
This is the user's ppp. The Ppp kernel module has been installed, but this is the user's.

5) obtain the PPTP Client
Rpm -- install pptp-linux-1.5.0-1. i386.rpm
This is a VPN Client ". This is a GUI client from which you can install VPN connections and various options.

6) Obtain phppcntl
Rpm -- instalGetphp-pcntl php-pcntl-4.3.8-1.i386.rpm
It helps the GUI work.

7) obtain the phpgtk Module
Rpm -- install php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386.rpm
This file also helps the GUI work.

8) install pptpconfig
Rpm -- install pptpconfig-20040722-0.noarch.rpm
This command installs the Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol. This allows the VPN to create A tunnel from A to B. VPN can use two Protocols: L2TP and PPTP. L2TP is a layer 2 tunnel protocol. It works on the data link layer of the OSI model.
9) Enter
The pptpconfig command will pop up a GUI for you.

(400) {this. resized = true; this. width = 400; this. alt = 'click here to open new window';} "onmouseover =" if (this. resized) this. style. cursor = 'hand'; "onclick =" window. open ('HTTP: // www.zdnet.com.cn/ I /techupdate/software/setup_vpn_fedora.jpg'); ">

10) Configure your connection
In the Server tab, We need to configure some elements:

Name: Name of the connection. You can name it at will

Server: the Server you will connect to, either the Server IP address or the name.

Domain: If yes, it refers to the Domain that the VPN will connect.

Username: Your VPN or Intranet logon Username

Password: the logon Password for the VPN or enterprise intranet.

On the routing tab, make sure it is correctly installed. Usually we need to send All to Tunnel. However, it can, or it may vary by VPN. To consult with your local administrator, select the single-choice button.

The DNS tab is usually very simple; it is automatic, or we need to enter some basic DNS information and options that may need to be included. The encryption tab is complex. There are many options:

Requires Microsoft point-to-point

Encryption

Reject 40 BITs

Encryption

Reject 128 bits

Encryption

Reject stateless Encryption

Reject EAP Authentication

You need to negotiate with your administrator and understand what your VPN needs. A typical installation will require Microsoft point-to-point encryption to reject 40-bit encryption and stateless encryption. The miscellaneous tab is our last tab. We should not make any changes here. The default installation works well in many cases.
Now, click the Add button and highlight our new connection. Select Start to create a VPN connection to the remote host.
