As we all know, Google is a well-deserved "darling" in the map field ". In fact, apart from Google, we also have a lot of third-party services to choose from, such as Apple Maps and Nokia Here-for Windows Phone users, the latter can be said to be more friendly-but we should not forget Linux. The good news is that Cononical today announced that it has reached an agreement with Nokia Here to provide A-GPS Technology for Ubuntu-based computers and mobile phones.
Ubuntu App Development Liaison Officer David Planella said: "The new positioning service will be a powerful solution that integrates A-GPS and Wi-Fi, and its first positioning will be very fast and accurate. This feature will be available when it reaches the RTM stage and will be enabled on the regular Ubuntu version and the sold Ubuntu mobile phone ".
Of course, Planella further explains that the company will collect anonymous information related to the geographical location of Wi-Fi signals only after the user's explicit consent, and used to improve the overall quality of positioning services for all users-all of which will comply with the privacy policy of Ubuntu.
If you do not want data such as your mobile phone number, you can quit the service.
