Canonical is expected to have nearly 20 million computers pre-installed with Ubuntu next year

At the Ubuntu developer summit in Auckland, California, ChrisKenyon, vice president of Canonical OEM services, said about 8 million to 10 million computers were pre-installed with Ubuntu last year and the number is expected to reach 18 million next year, it accounts for 5% of the global computer market. Other messages at the Conference include: the Ubuntu developer plan forkGNOMEControlCenter, which creates the Ubuntu Control Center. Ubuntu12.10 will include most of GNOME3.6

Ubuntu 12.10 will include most of the core components of GNOME 3.6 and discard Unity 2D.

EA says there is no plan to port Windows native games to Linux, but 14 games can run through wine. EA said it was making economic decisions and they were reluctant to postpone product release for Linux. For the source code for releasing old games, EA is obviously not as friendly as id Software, although it once published the source code for Sim City and Sims 1.
