Just less than half a month after I started Linux, I wanted to find a fast-running system and installed multiple operating systems for actual testing.
Hardware configuration: INTEL Q6600 4-core 2.4G motherboard chip Q35, 1033 MHz, 4G memory. For identical tasks, the processing time is different. The test results are as follows (average value ):
Open suse 10.3x64 2 minutes 59 seconds
Open suse 11.1x64 3 minutes 14 seconds
Open suse 10.1 32-bit 3 minutes 32 seconds
UTUNTU 8.10x64 3 minutes 38 seconds
Windows xp x64 4 minutes 17 seconds
Red flag 6.2 32-bit 4 minutes 38 seconds

Therefore, if you believe that the system is fast, it will be faster. Don't be fooled.
In summary, linux is evolving towards a graphical interface, but it sacrifices the running speed. Is there no way to keep the best of both worlds? I really don't know. I personally think that computers are mainly used for data services and should not sacrifice the quality of data services for graphics.

Note: Only data processing is used for testing. The same data source, the same processing process, the same filtering conditions, and the same results are certainly the same, and the TCL script of the same exaggerated platform is used.

Sorry: I finally got online yesterday. Then I upgraded it to upgrade the video card driver and open suse10.3 system. I don't know what the above 140 update files do. After the upgrade, restart and run my data processing again. Sorry, this happened. The original task that took about 2 minutes 59 seconds is now 3 minutes 19 seconds (the error is about 1 second), which is equivalent to an increase of 10% of the system overhead, which is unacceptable.
I don't know why. It's because the TCL script interpreter has also been upgraded, and the program has been dragged down. Or is it because other services have increased the overhead. I don't know. Please give me some advice.
