Deploy and install openvz and kvm on the same machine in debian

Openvz is still recommended to use the package from the official debian6 source. Compatibility labels: debian recently launched a machine. We want to build a host that supports both openvz and kvm virtualization technologies. In principle, I think the problem is not big, because the two are virtualization technologies at different levels, one is hardware-level virtualization, and the other is cgroup-level process-level virtualization (I don't know much about this, ). Therefore, it is possible to install the SDK simultaneously.

I searched the solution and found a proxmox release to solve this problem. After reading the document, we integrated a bunch of panel things. The more things there are, the more bugs there will be. Or do it yourself.

Because openvz requires kernel running through patches, kvm requires loading of kvm and kvm_intel kernel modules (amd is kvm_amd ). So the difficulty is this compatibility. Other user-state processes can solve any conflict.

First, debian7 (I like debian) is selected. I found that the source of openvz is required. the kernel of openvz used in the source is 2.6.32. The Debian 7 kernel is 3.2 currently. High risk. From the perspective of the openvz kernel deb package dragged from the source, we found that the 32-bit kernel does not contain the kvm module, but the 64-bit kernel does. Cried. I don't know what they are doing. So the 64-bit system started up. The result shows that kvm_intel cannot be loaded. Input/output err is reported. After forced loading with-f, the signature is rejected. It is estimated that the compiling was wrong. Although the kernel source code and. config are available, they are still not compiled by themselves.

Debian6. The official sources of debian6 already include openvz. The kernel version is also 2.6 and 32 series. The default kernel version is the same as that of Debian 6. This feeling is reliable. Install and restart to enter the openvz kernel. Modprobe loads the kvm kernel module. OK.

The next step is to adjust the process and network. Is not a big problem.

The conclusion is: openvz still recommends using the package from the official Debian 6 source. Good compatibility.
