Don't make Ajax cool and fascinating to you!

Ajax, a new term that has just been born for 18 months, has almost completely changed the face of Web development. Why is Ajax so popular? With curiosity and surprises, I finally had the opportunity to drive the new Ajax car. It is said that it was a new car using the latest driving interface technology. Well, it feels very good. However, it seems a bit cold. I need to turn on the air conditioner! What happened ?! A huge weather control pop-up window occupies almost half of the windshield space, so that I can hardly see the road ahead, thrilling!

I need to stabilize my mood. Maybe it's better to have a concert. Oh, God! The music control interface has replaced the steering wheel. It seems that this car cannot be opened! Who made this interface? Is it an AJAX Developer?

Okay, not all AJAX developers are so bad. However, with the popularity of Web development technology, Web-based applications, software as a service (SAAS)-based systems, it became very common, and we began to see this situation at the beginning of this article. It seems that many developers still need to take a few more lessons on how to design the application interface.

I am not here to criticize AJAX technology. In fact, I really like this technology. It provides us with a standard way to create Web-based interactive applications. both visual and practical results are more like a classic desktop application interface, third-party plug-ins are not required, such as Flash, or platform-specific control, such as ActiveX. In fact, AJAX is already one of the powerful core technologies behind Web 2.0. It makes it possible to create dynamic applications for Web browsers and operating systems.

However, there is one thing worth noting: With the popularity of Ajax, a large number of AJAX developers have emerged, and they have spent a lot of time and energy on common Web development, there is not enough research on the development of classic applications.

I can cite many excellent Web applications based on AJAX technology, and I can also cite some poorly designed AJAX applications, they are filled with pop-up windows, scroll menu bar, flashing icons, and other elements. We can see that these are all intentionally added by developers.

Of course, this is not the first time we have seen this phenomenon. When Flash technology is becoming popular, we often find that many sites and applications use excessive scrolling windows, animation introductions, and other "visual noises ", this makes it impossible for us to actually use Web application functions. In fact, we often encounter similar situations. Some annoying Flash-based advertisements block the real content we want to view, I think many readers will encounter similar things.

Therefore, it is not surprising that this happens to AJAX, but it only shows that Web developers still need to learn more about interface design.

AJAX technology can be used to create very cool Web applications. This is amazing, but developers do not need to use this technology in all aspects, regardless of the actual effect.

Select the appropriate application and interface design technology based on the actual situation of the application you have created, such as desktop or browser applications.
If a pop-up window or menu blocks users from accessing the core functions of an application, this window or menu is too large or even unnecessary. If the application interface is messy and difficult to use because of the cool and flickering interface effects, the user will stop using the application, no matter whether it looks cool or cool, it's useless.

In addition, we are also application users, and we can consider the problem from our own perspective. When creating an AJAX interface, developers can look back and try the interface effect from a user's perspective. You will find that these very dazzling interface elements are really helpful to users or affect their use. If they are the latter, don't hesitate to change them.

Conclusion: Ajax is like a car. An application is a vehicle that helps users reach their destination. For applications, their destinations are collaborative meetings, interactive documents, and sales management. If something is added to your application that makes it very difficult to drive the car, users will not reach their destination and they will give up your application, turning is easier to control.
