I am a 100% Ubuntu/Linux user, but I am forced to use windows systems, such as QQ and online banking. Helpless. Therefore, this 100% should be a more accurate 80%. However, to enable a video chat on QQ in the virtual XP system, you must enable USB support for the virtual machine. Next I will introduce how to enable QQ Video Chat Support in virtual xp. The camera is connected to the usb interface of the machine, so the Virtualbox USB support must be enabled. Everything can continue.

1. install

The method for installing Virtualbox in Ubuntu/Linux is simple. you can download the corresponding linux version at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/virtualbox/overview/index.html.

Note: For Ubuntu systems, it is best to install the dkms package first with the command sudo apt-get install dkms. This is described on the virtualbox wiki (http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads ):

Note: Ubuntu/Debian users might want to install the dkms package to ensure that the VirtualBox host kernel modules (vboxdrv, vboxnetflt and vboxnetadp) are properly updated if the linux kernel version changes during the next apt-get upgrade. for Debian it is available in Lenny backports and in the normal repository for Squeeze and later. the dkms package can be installed through the Synaptic Package manager or through the following command:

Sudo apt-get install dkms

2. create a virtual
XP system

Create

The iso file is attached to the optical drive of the VM. My

En_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_vl_x14-73974.iso. If installation is complete.

3. enable USB support

Step 1: Download the Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack. Find the installation package in html # extpack> http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/virtualbox/downloads/index.html#extpack. select all platforms and download it. After the download is complete, open Virtualbox, File-> preferences-> extension and add the extension pack you just downloaded. After installation, restart Virtualbox. In this way, the Virtualbox usb support is enabled.

Step 2: Select USB device> enable USB controller> enable usb 2.0 controller in the VM settings. Add a USB filter and select the USB device to be mounted to the VM. here, I select the camera.

Step 3: after adding a USB device, start the vm again. just as I want to assign a USB device to the VM, I find that I click the device? > Although USB devices are listed on my computer, they are all gray and cannot be allocated. Why? The reason is that Virtualbox has no access permission to the USB device. Finally, I found the solution on the https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VirtualBox/USB, the original Ubuntu 10.04 has a simpler solution to use USB in VirtualBox:

For Lucid
Add yourself to the user group vboxusers, then log out and back in, to make use of available USB devices. to do this via the graphical interface, click in the menu System/Administration/Users and Groups.

In the past, VirtualBox was not running as the current user, but a user group called vboxusers was created separately. by default, your current user is not in this user group, virtualBox has no permission to access the USB device. Add the current user to the vboxusers user group in user management. log on again and open VirtualBox again. Start the VM and you will see that you can access the USB device now! The USB device can be used smoothly! The effect is as follows:
