Enable the scim Chinese Input Method In Ubuntu (with related file download)

You can enter Chinese Characters in Ubuntu. The following conditions must be ensured: (this is only for the SCIM input method)

1. There must be a Chinese code table, such as five strokes.

2. Make sure that scim has been started.

3. Activate the scim input method.

The following describes how to meet the preceding three conditions.

1. For details about how to create a code table, refer to "How to Create a five-character PinYin Input Method for Linux"

2. It is easy to start scim. You only need to enter sudo scim-d in the terminal. If the result is successful, a prompt is displayed, or an icon is displayed in the middle right of the top of ubuntu.

3. Activate the input method. The default shortcut key is ctrl + space. For the sake of security, please check the scim Input Method settings by taking the following steps: system --> preferences --> SCIM Input Method settings. Then, in the pop-up dialog box, click on the left, and choose FrontEnd-> Global Setup. Then, check whether the shortcut key ctrl + space exists in the turn on option on the right. If not, add it. After the settings, restart the system.

After the system is restarted, open the terminal and enter sudo scim-d to start scim

Open a document and press ctrl + spcace to view the scim icon. Then, you can select the input method or press ctrl + shift to switch the input method.
