Article Title: Father of Linux: Linux is ready for green energy conservation and environmental protection. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.
Linux leader Linus Torvalds said at the Melbourne Linux conference this week that the green architecture and tools for Linux are ready.
Torvalds acknowledges that the current Linux system lags behind other technologies in power management and diagnosis.
Torvalds said: "A few years ago this was our weakness. it took a long time to build an energy-saving architecture, but we are now ready. When the power consumption increases, we already have tools to diagnose the problem, publish a prompt to the user, and tell the user the cause. Previously, these functions were in the black box ."
Speaking of the future of Linux, Torvalds expressed his satisfaction with the kernel of Linux stability and the active participation of community users.
"We are still studying a lot of things, especially new hardware," he said. I think, in general, the basic things are already there. what we need to do is to perform better maintenance and improve the code as much as possible so that we can easily add features ."
When asked if he would retire, Torvalds said he did not. He believes that even if he leaves, Linux has a strong community to support.
Torvalds is also happy with the disappearance of digital rights management (DRM). last year, he once said that he believed that DRM was of little use, the current situation proves that his judgment is correct.
He said: "DRM is so anti-consumer that I didn't see this technology really worked ."
Several weeks ago, Sony BMG began selling music without any copy protection restrictions. Baiday, Warner record group, and Global have begun to launch DRM-free music in the United States.
