2. shared printer settings

Select "display printers shared by other systems" in "Server Settings", "share public printers connected to this system", "Allow printing from the Internet ", "Allow Remote Management" and "allow users to cancel any tasks (including tasks that are not their own )".

If you want to share the printer with windows 2000/xp, You need to further set: Modify/etc/cups/mime. convs and mime. types.

(1) Modify mime. convs

Open the file and find

"Application/octet-stream application/vnd. cups-raw 0 -"

If "#" is added, remove it and save the settings.

(2) Modify mime. types

Open the file and find "application/octet-stream" in the last few lines. If the comment "#" is added, remove it and save the settings.

1. directly use CUPS to provide printing servers

(1) "start"/"printer and fax"/"Add Printer"/to open the "Add Printer wizard" dialog box.

(2) Click "Next" and select "network printer or printer connected to other computers (E )".

(3) Click "Next" and select "printer connected to Internet, home, or office network (O):". In the URL bar, enter the address of the printer server http: // 172.16.22.66: 631/printer/epson. You can use http: // ip address: 631 to manage the CUPS printer. after entering the interface, select "printer" to view the installed CUPS printer.

(4) if the address is correct and the connection is correct, you will be prompted to install the driver. After selecting the corresponding driver, the printer is added, the printer can be used without accident.

This method is relatively simple to configure, but there is a drawback that even if you have to install the printer driver for the client, if the number of clients is large, the workload will be quite large, therefore, we thought that Samba and CUPS should be used together to provide printing. A bit is that after the driver is installed on the server, the client does not need to be installed.
