Fedora10 prohibits login to the root account. Prior to this, ubuntu has disabled login to the root account, avoiding unintentional damage to the system by some people using the root account, after all, most operations can be done with sudo.
1. su-switch to the root account
2. Set auth required pam_succeed_if.so user in the/etc/pam. d/MCM file! = Comment out a line of root quiet.
3. Restart to log on to X using root.
In fedora11, you also need
Auth required pam_succeed_if.so user! = Comment out root quiet.

If there are no other special requirements, we recommend that you change/etc/pam. d/TPD back to the original state to avoid using root login.
