HTML5 and Flash, is it hostile? is coexistence?
While Flash still holds the most of the Web animation, it will eventually change.
So does the introduction of edge mean that Adobe will give up and succumb to the battle between Flash and HTML5? Adobe does not seem to agree with this statement. Although this war of no-smoke became the best title for technical missionaries, the "Flash vs. HTML5" Puzzle was not an either-or-no issue when it broke out in the professional world. For today's web designers and web programmers, both technologies will be chosen.
Adobe supports HTML5 with Edge
"HTML5 Technology is an opportunity for Adobe," explains Devin Fernandez, product manager at Adobe Network Expert Group, "It's really hard to say it's not a chance to give Flash." He argues that Flash will continue to evolve, as we have said before, that Flash will focus on areas that HTML5 technology cannot reach, such as 3D games. (although in the 3D field, HTML5 is also in development)
Still, HTML5 is a new technology that has not been widely used in handheld devices and browsers for granted. Now Windows XP makes Microsoft feel annoyed, although it can only run IE8, that is, it can not render IE9 new HTML5 standard, but it is undoubtedly still the most popular computer operating system.
That said, Adobe believes that Flash still has a solid future on the Internet. However, when the Internet is ready for a flash-free era, Edge is undoubtedly the program that Adobe uses to retain creative professionals.
What's so magical about edge?
Back in April 2010, when Adobe announced that it would be one of the HTML5 in the field, Adobe was first in its own product, Dreamweaver, illustrator, and digital publishing HTML5 technology is supported in suite, and a tool Wallaby for flash conversion to HTML5 has recently been introduced.
Now, Adobe Edge is starkly its ambition to directly help professionals design Web animations, and in the future, this tool will even be used to develop HTML5 web animation games. The Edge will now focus on its core animation engine, but in the future there will be more HTML5 features added to the edge, including support for canvas, Audio, video, and vector animations.
