General guidelines

Pixel densities Android icons require five separate sizes for different screen pixel densities. Icons for lower resolution is created automatically from the baseline.

Launcher icons

Action Bar, Dialog & Tab icons
24x24 area in 32x32 (MDPI) 36x36 area in 48x48 (hdpi) 48x48 area in 64x64 (xhdpi) 72x72 area in 96x96 (xxhdpi) 96x96 area in 128x128 (xxxhdpi)	. png	These icons is used in the Action bar menu. The first number is the size of the "icon area" and the second is file size.
Small Contextual Icons
16x16 (MDPI) 24x24 (HDPI) 32x32 (XHDPI) 48x48 (XXHDPI) 64x64 (XXXHDPI)	. png	Small icons is used to surface actions and/or provide status for specific items. For example, in the Gmail app, each message is a star icon that marks the message as important.
Notification icons
