As Oracle will acquire Sun and gain the right to manage Java, many people in the technology industry have put forward their own opinions on how Oracle handles the relationship with the Java programming language. One of the comments was raised by jimwhitehust, CEO of RedHat. He called on Oracle to remain open to Java. He also talked about Oracle's operating system business at a conference call to discuss the financial report for the first quarter of fiscal year June 24 of RedHat in December 2010. As Oracle will acquire Sun and gain the right to manage Java, many people in the technology industry have put forward their own opinions on how Oracle handles the relationship with the Java programming language. One of the comments was put forward by Red Hat CEO Jim whitehust.

He called on Oracle to remain open to Java. He also talked about Oracle's operating system business at a conference call on Red Hat's financial report for the first quarter of fiscal June 24 in December 2010.

These two things are very important for Red Hat. As a member of the Java group, Red Hat cooperates with Oracle. However, Red Hat competes with Oracle in terms of operating systems and Java middleware software. With Oracle's acquisition of Sun, Oracle will obtain new competing operating systems Solaris and OpenSolaris.

At the same time, Red Hat's revenue mainly comes from its own operating system business. Despite the current economic recession, Red Hat's operating system business continues to grow. Red Hat's financial report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2010 released on Wednesday shows that its sales revenue and profits have all increased.

Red Hat's sales revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year was $0.1744 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11%. The net profit is $18.5 million, with a 10 cent earnings per share. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2009, Red Hat's net profit was $17.3 million, equivalent to 8 cents per share.

However, Java also plays an important role in Red Hat's business. Whitehirst said that Red Hat's JBoss Java middleware software business is a key part of the product portfolio. In the first quarter of fiscal year, Red Hat made five businesses worth more than $1 million, two of which were separate middleware software businesses.

With Oracle's acquisition of Sun, analysts attending investor meetings were wondering what impact the acquisition would have on Red Hat and the Java Community Process organization managing Jave, especially whether Oracle would reject Red Hat and other vendors.

"We have been working with Oracle for many years in the Java Community Process organization," whitehirst said. Oracle has been demanding openness for a long time. In my opinion, since Java is not a separate world, there is also. Net, I hope Oracle understands the extreme importance of keeping Java open and moving forward, and realizes that it is not a separate world.
