MySQL CONVERT ()

Source: Internet
Author: User

CONVERT () provides a way to CONVERT data between different character sets. Syntax:

CONVERT (expr USING transcoding_name)

In MySQL, the conversion code name is the same as the corresponding Character Set Name.

Example:

Select convert (_ latin1 'müler' USING utf8 );

Insert into utf8table (utf8column)

Select convert (latin1field USING utf8) FROM latin1table;

CONVERT (... USING...) is implemented in accordance with standard SQL specifications.

In traditional SQL mode, if you CONVERT a "0" date string to the date type, the CONVERT () function returns NULL. A warning is also generated in MySQL5.1.
