Most modern families have at least one computer and all have been connected to the Internet. This leads to a question that has been widely debated by all sectors of the society: for children, the Internet is a double-edged sword, whether it is good or bad. We will not discuss this issue here, but will talk about how families with children control their use of computers. Most modern families have at least one computer and all have been connected to the Internet. This leads to a question that has been widely debated by all sectors of the society: for children, the Internet is a double-edged sword, whether it is good or bad. We will not discuss this issue here, but will talk about how families with children control their use of computers. It seems very easy for children and parents who are particularly younger to get rid of it. However, when there are some computer foundations and parents are often unable to perform supervision at home, they just want to get online. In addition, the current bear children are very smart and clever. They often prefer to dump and understand computers more than adults, and trust in the online world. Therefore, I personally think that only when parents know more about computers and the Internet can they better guide their children in understanding and using the Internet. The so-called know (TAO) has (high) knowledge (1) He (Zhang) Well.
For Windows operating systems, Microsoft introduced the parental control function from Windows Vista, which can restrict children's use of computer functions, it also specifies and limits which Windows functions can be used by a child's account. For example, restrict children to use only one application, game, and email. With the parental control feature of Windows, you can control most of the applications and functions of your computer without using third-party software.
However, with the interest of the Linux task desktop operating system and Microsoft's support for Windwos XP, Ubuntu, which is widely used by users, is also accepted by users. However, the latest Ubuntu 14.04 has no built-in parental control system, which can not help but make parents somewhat discouraged. However, the Timekpr application provides the parental control feature that bears children hate very much for Ubuntu 14.04. Here are some simple introductions.
How to Use Timekpr
Timekpr can restrict system running based on different users, and supports mainstream Linux systems (such as Windows, windows, and Linux ). You can use the root permission to perform the following control:
- Limits the time limit for a specified user (for example, 1 hour)
- Limits the time period for the specified user (for example, 19: 00)
- Set limits on the whole week or day
Install Timekpr on Ubuntu 14.04
Although Timekpr is not the only application that provides parental control for Ubuntu, it is one of the most concise and practical functions. We can go to launchpad.net /~ Locate and install mjasnik/+ archive/ppa. The following two DEB installation packages are provided:
- Timekpr (64bit). deb (57.5 KiB)
- Timekpr (32bit). deb (57.7 KiB)
After installation, we need to use the root permission to execute the following command on the terminal to start using Timekpr:
Timekpr-gui
