The remote Server management tool (RSAT) for Windows 8 enables IT administrators to manage Server roles and functions on Remote Windows Server 2012 computers on their own Windows 8 computers, you do not need to log on to the server desktop. Although the official version of Windows 8 will not be officially available until October, the remote server management tool for the official version has been released to the Microsoft download center.
This package enables Windows 8 to have the Server Management Console interface on Windows Server 2012. Through the Remote Management port opened on the Server, Windows 8 computers can remotely connect to the Server for management.
Here is more information:
This package is released as a Windows Update Program, numbered KB2693643
The 32-bit version is 95.3 MB and the 64-bit version is 102.1 MB.
After installation, you can access these tools without restarting Windows 8. You can disable unnecessary tools in "enable or disable Windows" (SEE)
Because Windows 8 already contains Hyper-V, RSAT does not contain Hyper-V management tools. To remotely manage Hyper-V, you can directly enable the "Hyper-V management tool" under the Hyper-V component without installing RSAT (SEE)
The effect after installation is shown in:
(Note: As of press time, the download page is still displayed as "RSAT for Windows 8 Release Preview". However, the RTM version is provided, so you can download and use it with confidence)
