If the software package in the Linux World is a pity, it does not have a high-quality command line processor (used in terminals ). There are many text editors and many features with some word processors, But the package still does not contain formatting, built-in spelling check, and other features.
Solution? Install the free DOS version Word provided by Microsoft website. You can use DOSBox to run the software, and it can be run (but cannot be printed ).
The procedure is as follows:
1. Search for and install dosbox in the new version. DosBox is a DOS simulator that can run many old DOS games.
2. Create a new blank folder in the HOME directory as the virtual hard disk of DosBox.
3. Download the Microsoft Word Dos version (currently free software), which is: Release. The file is not large, only 3 MB.
4. Copy the downloaded file to the blank folder created in step 2. Switch to the DosBox window. Enter the following command in the DosBox window:
Mount c foldername
Foldername is the name of the folder created in step 2, depending on your situation. In the DosBox window, enter:
C:
.
5. Enter the following in DosBox:
Wd55_ben
Decompress the file. If an decompression error occurs, leave it alone. Just continue.
6. decompress the package and enter:
Setup.exe
During the installation process, do not allow Word to change your system settings or add a new mouse driver. DosBox will automatically handle this.
7. After the installation is complete, enter:
Word.exe
Start Microsoft Word.
Each time you start DosBox, You need to manually mount the virtual hard disk, which may be troublesome. You can open DosBox and enter the following in the DosBox window:
CONFIG-writeconf dosbox. conf
This will write the current configuration of DosBox into the dosbox. conf file.
Use gedit to open the dosbox. conf file (gedit ~ /. Dosbox. conf), add the following at the end:
Mount c folder name
C:
In this way, after the DosBox is started, your virtual hard disk will be automatically loaded.
