Excel Web access web part Summary
Applicable to: Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010
Print
The Excel access web part is a Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 technology used to display an Excel Workbook from a document library. You can connect an Excel Web access part to any workbook in the SharePoint document library and use it on a dashboard or other SharePoint pages. For example, you may want to display the selected elements of a quarterly report on a dashboard.
You can display the entire workbook that contains multiple worksheets in a single Excel Web access web part, or select only one element of the workbook to publish the workbook as a named project. For example, you can divide the source workbook into multiple parts (based on a single worksheet, named project, or other objects) and publish these parts separately. Then, you can connect separate parts to each Web part, and control the access to each part of the workbook by configuring permissions on the Web Part Page. In addition, you can connect published Web components to each other to achieve cross-filtering and Dynamic Data refreshing. Finally, the Excel Web access web parts can be reused. If necessary, the same Excel Web access web parts can be used on many different web pages.
When using Excel access web components, you can easily and securely share reports, analyze, and browse data with other users. In this article, you can find links to the Excel Web access web components and help topics on how to publish workbooks to excel services.
