Symptoms:

The following error occurs when the Grub-install script is used during grub installation:

Solution:

Check whether this step has been performed in the workshop.

# Cp/proc/mounts/etc/mtab

13. Click Enter in Grub Menu and restart the system.

Symptoms:

Click press enter in Grub Menu and then restart the system.

Solution:

Try to disable framebuffer in kenel or directly add a parameter after the started kernel. If not, try disable the APM or ACPI.

14. Click Enter in Grub Menu, and the screen is black.

Symptoms:

After you press enter in the Grub Menu, the screen is black, but the system is not suspended at this time, and the NumLock (soon) Key is still valid.

Solution:

Disable the framebuffer support in grub. conf (that is, remove the vga = XYZ line) and check whether the arch selection in the kernel config matches your hardware requirements.

15. The background image is missing when Grub is started.

Symptoms:

The default image background cannot be seen when the system is started.

Solution:

Check whether the related splash line in grub. conf has been commented out, whether the specified splash file exists, or whether the file name matches.

16. Failed to start Windows on the second Hard Disk

Symptoms:

The corresponding Windows entry is selected, but the system refuses to start. The error message is not clearly indicated.

Solution:

In many cases, it is because the map command is not correctly used in grub. conf.

17. A segment error occurs during Grub installation.

Symptoms:

This situation is often seen in the installation of the grub-0.95.x, the screen is shown as follows:

Segmentation fault

Solution:

This error is a known Grub bug of version 0.95. It has been fixed in version 0.96, and 0.94 r1 and 0.94 r2 do not have this bug. If there are also segment errors, try emerge grub-static. The package belongs to stable on the amd64 platform ~ The x86 platform is unstable.
