How to attach an NTFS-formatted mobile hard disk to a read-write (read/write) operation on Mac OS

Now hard drive cheap, many students have mobile hard disk, if you use both Windows and Mac OS, mobile hard disk is best not to use the NTFS file system, otherwise on Mac OS, you can only read your mobile hard disk, can not write.

But in fact, the mobile hard disk has a lot of things, and initially formatted for the NTFS format, this time reformatting is very cumbersome, to do data movement.

There are two ways to solve this problem:

    1. Use of third-party software.
    2. Use the Mount_ntfs tool that comes with Mac OS.

On Mac OS mount NTFS file system third-party software, commonly used is ntfs3g, which is an open source software, free to use, but the official only provide source code, need to compile themselves.

We focus on the second approach, using the Mount_ntfs tool that comes with Mac OS.

The procedure is as follows:
1. Open the command line terminal.

2, plug in the mobile hard disk, this time you see in the Finder this volume is read-only.

    1. 3, execute diskutil info/volumes/your_v_name , find Device Node This field value, record

For example, my mobile hard drive is Toshiba's, then perform diskutil info/volumes/toshiba\ portable\ hard\ drive/ , with the following output:
Device IDENTIFIER:DISK1S1
Device Node:/DEV/DISK1S1
Part of Whole:disk1
Device/media name:untitled 1

Volume Name:toshiba Portable Hard drive
Escaped with Unicode:toshiba%ff%fe%20%00portable%ff%fe%20%00hard%ff%fe%20%00drive

Mounted:yes
Mount point:/volumes/toshiba Portable Hard drive
Escaped with Unicode:/volumes/toshiba%ff%fe%20%00portable%ff%fe%20%00hard%ff%fe%20%00drive

File System Personality:ntfs
Type (Bundle): ntfs
Name (User Visible): Windows NT File System (NTFS)

Partition Type:windows_ntfs
OS Can be Installed:no
Media Type:generic
Protocol:usb
SMART Status:not Supported
Volume Uuid:0fdb1418-8175-4d31-a06e-09a5ebb35cf5

Total size:500.1 GB (500105217024 Bytes) (exactly 976768002 512-byte-blocks)
Volume free space:430.2 GB (430243385344 Bytes) (exactly 840319112 512-byte-blocks)
Device Block size:512 Bytes

Read-only Media:no
Read-only Volume:yes
Ejectable:yes

Whole:no
Internal:no

4. Eject the removable hard drive
Execute hdiutil eject/volumes/toshiba\ portable\ hard\ drive/, output as follows
"Disk1″unmounted.
"Disk1″ejected.

5. Create a directory that will mount to this directory later
Sodu MKDIR/VOLUMES/MYHD

6. Mount the mobile hard drive in NTFS format to the above directory
sudo mount_ntfs-o rw,nobrowse/dev/disk1s1/volumes/myhd/
After executing the above command, you can see that your mobile hard drive light is again two up, no output, indicating success.

7, at this time, your mobile hard disk can be written. However, you cannot operate in the Finder because the NOBROWSE option is added. But this option is required, otherwise you cannot write.

Finally, you might ask, why is it so troublesome to do it through the command line, rather than just supporting it in the Finder?
My view is that MOUNT_NTFS is not a core part of Mac OS, possibly some plug-in form lately, and therefore does not bind the Finder to its dead
