Operating system: [root @ RHEL5 ~] # Cat/etc/redhat-releaseRedHatEnterpriseLinuxServerrelease5 (Tikanga) telnet service includes two types: one is the server, the other is the client. As shown below, telnet-server-0.17-38.el5 is the server, telnet-0.17-38
Operating system:
[Root @ RHEL5 ~] # Cat/etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5 (Tikanga)
Two types of telnet services are available: one is the server and the other is the client. As shown below, the telnet-server-0.17-38.el5 is the server, and the telnet-0.17-38.el5 is the client:
[Root @ RHEL5 ~] # Rpm-qa | grep telnet
Telnet-0.17-38.el5
Telnet-server-0.17-38.el5
The biggest disadvantage of telnet is that it is insecure. the user name and password are transmitted in plaintext. You need to completely delete telnet from the system. The process is as follows:
[Root @ RHEL5 ~] # Rpm-e telnet-0.17-38.el5 #-e parameter indicates deleting an rpm Package
[Root @ RHEL5 ~] # Rpm e telnet-server-0.17-38.el5
Warning:/etc/xinetd. d/telnet saved as/etc/xinetd. d/telnet. rpmsave
Check:
[Root @ RHEL5 ~] # Rpm-qa | grep telnet
[Root @ RHEL5 ~] #
The rpm-qa command is used to query the telnet-related rpm package. no output is displayed, indicating that the rpm package has been deleted from the system.
