How to switch and exit Remote Desktop in rdesktop in Ubuntu is as follows:
I use RDP a lot and having to disconnect from my session to switch to another window is not an option. the problem lies somewhere with compiz. what supposed to happen when you hit ctrl + alt + enter is that it windows the session... But it doesn' t. Here is my fix.
Sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
System> Prefrences> Advanced Desktop Effects Settings
Utility> Workarounds> uncheck Legacy Fullscreen Support
That shoshould do it... Now off to figure out using SSL with rdesktop.
1. This is a BUG. If you do not use the desktop effect, you can use Ctrl + Alt + Enter to switch between full screen and maximize.
If the effect is used, the BUG will flash continuously and cannot be switched to full screen.
If you want to have the best of both worlds, the following solutions are available:
2 install compizconfig-settings-manager:
Sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
3. Choose System> preference> compizconfig settings manager:
Select the Utility Tab. Click "Work Area". In the displayed window, remove the first "old-style full-screen support" option!
