How to install Ubuntu 10.04 black screen on IBM Thinkpad X40
I have installed the test several times. The following method is valid:
If the disk is used for new installation:
1. When a purple screen appears after the Live CD is turned on, immediately press Enter to name the menu language selection, press F6 and then press Esc
After "quiet splash", Enter "i915.modeset = 1" and press Enter to start trial or installation.
2. Restart after installation, and press e in the grub menu to edit
(If the computer only has one Ubuntu operating system, press Shift to call grub at startup)
After "quiet splash", enter "i915.modeset = 1" and press ctrl + x to enter 10.04
3. Open terminal Input
Echo options i915 modeset = 1 | sudo tee/etc/modprobe. d/i915-kms.conf
Sudo update-initramfs-u
After the instance is restarted, it can be started to enter 10.04 instead of black screen.
If it is upgraded from 9.10:
1. After the instance is restarted, perform steps 2 and 3 above.
2. Alternatively, you can choose to boot from kernel 2.6.31 in grub to enter 10.04.
