Today, I am finally in a mood to write this article. In fact, I want to write it a long time ago. But I have not written it for my personal reasons due to my busy practical training! I am bored this evening. I visited the Forum and I really don't know what to do. So I want to update my Blog! I happened to think that this article has not been written yet! Speak nonsense!
First of all, the first system I installed is XP SP3, so you don't have to worry about it, as long as you are XP!
The second installation is Ubuntu 8.04. I installed the live CD disk, started the computer from the optical drive, and put it into the disc. Install the computer along the way as prompted, no special requirements need to be made here! When installing the GRUB boot item, follow the default settings!
After Ubuntu is installed, restart it. Then you can see that the startup Item contains XP, and the last one is!
Installed with Live CD uses GRUB of Ubuntu as the boot item to guide XP! If you use WUBI hard disk for installation, the default boot item is XP boot item. Then, when you choose to enter Ubuntu, the GRUB boot option will appear! So I think that whether you use a CD or WUBI to install the hard disk, three systems can be implemented in the end! Of course, if you want to enter Fedora 9 for WUBI, You must select Ubuntu first, and then select Fedora to enter Fedora 9! The implementation principle is the same, but the latter needs to press multiple ENTER!
The third installation is Fedora 9. Here, you should note that during the installation process, you should choose not to install GRUB boot, that is, do not install the boot item, I didn't! But you should be aware of it, and you should not press the next step so quickly! Remember! Do not install pilot items here! Otherwise, your Ubuntu cannot be started!
After Fedora 9 is installed, restart and select Ubuntu! Then modify the Ubuntu boot GRUB file!
Open the terminal and enter the command sudo gedit/boot/grub/menu. lst.
Add the following section at the bottom of the opened file!
# This entry automatically added by the Debian installer for an existing
# Linux installation on/dev/sda8.
Title Fedora (2.6.25-14. fc9.x86 _ 64) (on/dev/sda7)
Root (hd0, 7)
Kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.25-14.fc9.i686 ro root = UUID = 7302a099-92a6-47ba-a672-ef3095427a7e rhgb quiet
Initrd/boot/initrd-2.6.25-14.fc9.i686.img
Savedefault
Boot
/Dev/sda8: the hard disk partition where you installed Fedora. Run sudo fdisk-l to view the partition!
Root (hd0, 7) is similar, but pay attention to it here! Here is counted from 0, that is to say, the minus 1 in front of you is the number here. If you have two hard disks also counted from 0, the first hard disk is 0, the second hard disk is 1!
For details, refer to my partition information:
/Dev/sda1*1 1275 10241406 7 HPFS/NTFS (C drive with XP SP3)
/Dev/sda2 1276 30401 233954595 f W95 Ext 'd (LBA) (primary partition 2, total number of all disks except drive C)
/Dev/sda5 1276 6375 40965718 + 7 HPFS/NTFS (d disk under XP)
/Dev/sda6 6376 7712 10739421 83 Linux (Ubuntu disk)
/Dev/sda7 7713 7945 1871541 82 Linux swap/Solaris)
/Dev/sda8 7946 9967 16241683 + 83 Linux (Fedora 9 disk)
/Dev/sda9 9968 13197 25944943 + B W95 FAT32 (edisk under XP)
/Dev/sda10 13198 24315 89305303 + B W95 FAT32 (F disk under XP)
/Dev/sda11 24316 30401 48885763 + 7 HPFS/NTFS (G disk under XP)
Change here, and then to the vmlinuz-2.6.25-14.fc9.i686 and initrd-2.6.25-14.fc9.i686.img these two things, these two are Fedora9 guiding items, depending on your specific situation and set!
You can open the Boot folder under the fedora9 partition in Ubuntu and find these two file names, which are generally different in numbers!
Then the last one is the hard disk UUID. Run the ls-al/dev/disk/by-uuid command to view the UUID information of all your hard disks! My "Fedora" disk displays the following information (others will not be posted) lrwxrwxrwx 1 root 10 2008-06-27 09:49 7302a099-92a6-47ba-a672-ef3095427a7e-> .././sda8
After you finish the changes, save the changes, restart your system, and at the bottom of the boot menu, you can see Fedora (2.6.25-14. fc9.x86 _ 64) (on/dev/sda7). This is the text in the title. You can modify it as long as you like it, but it is better not to use Chinese characters because it may display garbled characters!
Have you seen the ora startup interface? Excited ?? Haha. Don't be excited first, because you will find many problems when you enter Fedora 9. Check out the quick configuration after I installed Fedora 9! If you are new to ora like me, Hua will be useful to you. [Fedora 9 quick configuration]
I also heard that it would be unnecessary to install fedora 9 first and then Ubunt, Because Ubuntu can recognize the ora 9 boot item, but Fedora does not recognize Ubuntu, so it will be so troublesome! But I have never tried it. If you want to try three systems, remember to report it, or try again later!
If you have any questions, please leave me a message. I will do my best to help you!
