How to make a dictionary sound In Debian

In Debian, how to make the dictionary sound-Linux Release Technology-Debian information is described below. The StarDict and RecitedWord software are installed in Debian. One is a dictionary and the other is used for memorizing words, I think these two software are very useful for those of us who are not very good at E-text! However, after installation, you cannot speak out. I thought it was too bad, and I didn't think much about it. But when I saw a friend with the same machine as me, I just installed RedHat and I was able to speak out. So I made up my mind to find out why.

I found N sites on the internet and finally found the cause on an English site. The original Article is as follows:
Q: Why does esound not default to autospawn?

A: esound used to default to autospawning, which means that programs
Wocould try to start the esd daemon if it wasn' t running. The problem
Is, if you don't have sound hardware correctly setup, esd wowould take
Long time to try opening the sound device (s) at all possible supported
Rates, and people wowould think that the Gnome desktop had "hung"
Two minutes.

Because of the above reasons, autospawn is not supported by default in Debian, while StarDict and RecitedWord use esound, so no sound is sent. Knowing the cause makes it easy to solve it.

Install esound, apt-get install esound

Modify/etc/esound/esd. conf and change auto_spawn = 0 in the first line to auto_spawn = 1.

Reboot
Congratulations! You can finally hear a wonderful voice! Haha

PS: Some friends used this method to see the above-mentioned false crash. I checked it and found that it was not installed with ALSA, and the sound server was not enabled. After installing ALSA and enabling the sound server at the same time, you will be able to hear the sound after restart, and do not need to modify the esd. conf file!
