Today, I want to test the powerdesigner knowledge base (repository) on my PC and find that I need to use the MySQL ODBC driver to connect to MySQL. On the MySQL official website http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/download, because I use Windows 7x64, so I got an x64 version, and I also got an x86 version.
After downloading and installing the tool, everything went smoothly (because the x64 system is installed with x64). Configure ODBC information and open the powerdesigner configuration connection. A strange thing happened, the connection is normal on the ODBC interface, and the following error occurs during the connection test of powerdesigner.
Depressed. It's still the same as unloading, loading, and unloading. Google and Baidu, and no good results were found. However, I suddenly thought that powerdesigner is a 32-bitProgramAh, can I only use a 32-bit ODBC? Try to install MySQL ODBC x86 (Note: The x64 version is not uninstalled at this time.), Test, everything is OK, it's okay, and I verified my previous judgment. I don't know if it is an ODBC driver bug or a powerdesigner problem.
To sum up, you must first install the ODBC driver for x64 in the x64 system. Otherwise, the ODBC driver type cannot be found in the ODBC driver list. For 32-bit programs, you still need to install the x86 Driver (do not uninstall the x64 version ). Of course, it would be enough for a 32-bit system to directly install x86.
