Store data on the client
Html5 provides two new methods to store data on the client:
- LocalStorage-data storage with no time limit
- SessionStorage-data storage for sessions. Once the window is closed, it will no longer exist.
The usage of the two methods is exactly the same. The following uses localStorage as an example.
Why use local storage?
In the early days, we used cookies, but cookies were not suitable for storing a large amount of data. That is to say, they were too small, only 4 k, and they were slow and inefficient.
LocalStorage Method
How can we add data? It is very simple, just like adding attributes to an object:

Note that:When reading stored data, the returned data is a string. No matter what is stored before, the last read data is a string. Therefore, type conversion is required during reading.
