If you are a fan of Gentoo or Slackware, please leave and do not continue reading. You may not. (But I assure you that I respect and appreciate your goal and are committed to running a simple GNU/Linux installation that you can complete. I will pay attention to protecting your freedom of choice .) Now, I start to talk about mine.
If you start using Linux in the past two years, you have the opportunity to run Ubuntu. If you encounter difficulties when trying Linux for the first time, you should definitely consider Ubuntu. Here is why.
There are two reasons for choosing Ubuntu: Quick Start and long-term viability. Quick Start means no instructions are required for using Ubuntu. After several minutes of installation, you can immediately identify most of the hardware and hide the root user to avoid any confusion. Then you can preset the configuration so that you can start working immediately. Ubuntu provides a good joint platform for developers. The growing number of OEM customers and the most important one is the world's huge user base.
First, get started.
In fact, almost no one prefers to install the operating system. If you have run into the largest number of computers, it may mean that you are on the computer, you may be an exception. But for most people, operating system installation is boring and sometimes even annoying. This is what most end users want to avoid. Unlike most other releases *, you can get pre-installed Ubuntu from computer brands such as Dell, which means you can skip all installation barriers, start working on the running computer immediately. (It is rumored that HP will soon join the ranks of Ubuntu users .)
If you choose to install Ubuntu by yourself, you may want one of the most popular installation procedures to be available for any operating system. When you select a custom hard disk partition during the Ubuntu installation process, you can also click Next immediately, just stop and enter the time zone, user name, and password until the installation is complete. You have almost the same experience as Windows Vista and Mac OS X.
In terms of hardware compatibility, Ubuntu cannot be broken. Over the years, I have installed Ubuntu from a Power PC-based Mac to a high-end gaming desktop computer and some laptops. I also found a system that cannot be easily supported. I personally tested the hardware compatibility platform as a low-end Gateway MX3228 notebook, which I often use as a test system. (I typed on it just now .) It integrates Via UniChrome GPU (graphics processor), WXGA display, Broadcom 4318 wireless Nic, Via integrated sound card and Texas Instruments (Texas Instrument) multimedia card reader. Almost every time I install the system, I have minor problems, including Windows Vista. It takes more than 10 minutes to download and install the correct Vista driver from the Gateway website. Many Linux versions cannot be directly displayed. Even with the latest Sabayon version, it is self-defeating in terms of hardware support, but it is still helpless for Cold-door laptops like me. However, when I reinstall Ubuntu for this purpose, it took me more than 30 minutes to configure all the hardware parts, and now the machine is running perfectly. Most of them would like to thank all the helpful friends on the Ubuntu Forum for their generous sharing of their experiences. For every intractable disease, simply follow the instructions step by step.
Because Ubuntu hides the root user, you need to use sudo to run the Administrator command. Ubuntu protects new users. This is very similar to Windows Vista user management, with less trouble and higher security. Many other release versions still allow users to log on as root, which may cause a disaster for new users who prefer to mess up.
Installing the operating system is only a small part of computer experience. In fact, most computer users have never had that experience. Once you start Ubuntu for the first time, prepare for the carnival and do some real things. Ubuntu has established a high-specification platform with pre-configured software, here, we provide you with a professional office software package, powerful graphic editing software, multi-functional photo management software, smart music players, and software that may be required by other people, you can run it immediately. All major releases are doing equally well, but I believe Ubuntu will be able to maintain a balance between installing all software packages and avoiding unnecessary software packages. If the desired software is not installed, choose Applications> Add/Remove... (Add/delete...) and click it. (Or if you are a more advanced user, you can find all the major open-source Linux applications in Synaptic Package Manager .) Buy a new Mac or Windows computer. Before you start, you need to install all the frequently used software for several hours. Buy a computer pre-installed with Ubuntu and you will be able to start working in five minutes.
