In ubuntu7.10, how does one add environment variables? -- Linux general technology-Linux programming and kernel information. The following is a detailed description. My system is ubuntu7.10. To install GRADS, you need to set environment variables in ubuntu.
Environment variables are:
Path = "/usr/local/grads/bin"
GASDIR = "/usr/local/grads/data"
Therefore, I added these two environment variables using the export command in the bashrc file under my account. I found that the two environment variables did not work, but all linux commands under Terminal failed, and I changed them back to the original one, restore to normal.
Disappointed, I tried to add the above two environment variables to the/etc/profile file and found that the system could not be accessed. In security mode, I changed the profile back to its original state and the system went back to normal.
How can I add these two environment variables.
